Distance Education: A New Way of Learning

Do you want to take up a course but too busy to do so? Maybe because of a job or a commitment. Or maybe you are a full-time mom or dad who couldn't leave the house. It's ok, the advancements in information technology has now enabled people to learn and obtain a degree through online courses without leaving the comforts of home. It is called distance education, distance learning or e-learning.

In distance learning, everything's done online. Lessons, instructions and course notes are given through e-mails. Textbooks can be purchased locally or delivered as part of the program package in the form of PDFs. Exams are conducted through an online student service which is also the place for tuition payments.

What are the advantages of e-learning? First of all, convenience. Students are in full control of their schedule. They decide what time to study and where to do it, can be anywhere as long as there is a computer and Internet connection. Likewise, students don't have to worry about moving out, location is not so important in e-learning.

There are no class schedules and no deadline pressures, these qualities are great for those who value their free time. Plus, it not only saves time, but also money. Students don't pay for commuting costs and parking fees. With distance learning, the learning pace can be properly set depending on the capability (either slow or fast learner) of the student.

There is a wide range of correspondence courses to choose from such as auto mechanics, business management, locksmithing, etc. Help or personal assistance is available through phone or e-mail and tutors are always ready to answer questions.

In e-learning, never experience the hassles of a traditional classroom againuncomfortable chairs or seating arrangement, annoying classmates or teachers, time pressureand never be late.
